Aji Kiji

The best high-quality sushi lunch option downtown — if you don't mind standing in line and eating it somewhere else.

I've been hitting up Aji Kiji about every two weeks for lunch, and it's become my go-to spot for quality sushi in the Financial District. This place is takeaway only — literally zero seating — but that's fine because what they lack in ambiance they make up for with consistently fresh fish.

They operate during lunch hours (11 AM to 4 PM on weekdays plus Saturdays) and offer a bunch of different lunchbox options. I've tried more than half of them at this point, and I've enjoyed them all. The fish is always fresh, which is exactly what you want when you're dropping $30 to $50 on lunch sushi.

Fair warning: there can be long lines around peak lunch hours. If you're planning a group order for the office, you can order ahead through their Toast app, which is clutch for catering situations. Just don't expect this to be a date night spot — it's strictly grab-and-go.

Various sashimi and sushi combinations, all featuring consistently fresh fish. I've tried more than half the options and enjoyed them all.

The Vibe

Pure takeaway operation with zero seating. Show up during lunch hours, grab your box, and find somewhere else to eat it.

What To Order

Any of their lunchbox options — I've tried more than half and enjoyed them all. The fish quality is consistently fresh across the board.

Who It’s For

Office workers who want quality sushi for lunch and don't mind paying a bit more for fresh fish.

Solid fish, questionable choices, and a price tag that makes you wonder if there's a better use for a few hundred bucks.

Kolapasi South Indian Cuisine

The best Indian food I've had in the Bay Area so far, with a meal that compared favorably even against fancier and more expensive spots.
